Serious rainy day here in GA. and it has the mood behind it too. You know the one I am talking about. The rain has that wow that looks great and it's rhythm is just right. Yet you have no desire to go out in it. It's a stay on the couch, wine, or beer, a few friends, if ya have them and if they want to go out in the rain, and you chill, listen to Marley and enjoy life.

Or your stuck outside it this and you are utterly miserable. Soaked to the bone, can't find a dry spot on ya, your smokes are floating in the new pond in the pack. Yah it's that kinda day. Tried to capture some essence of it, and I think I did with Rainy Night.

Not really, but I figure that since everyone wants to fight, and drive like jackasses this time of year... Since everyone seems to have even more intolerance for their fellow man this time of year... Since people are more concerned about sounding like the little "MINE!" birds from Nemo, and because what they want is much more important causing those who are shopping for things to GIVE to all look like they drew the short straw in the "whose giving the camel a prostate exam?" contest. Since the one time of year "officially" set aside to bring mankind together in joy and peace, seems to make people put on their loincloth, warpaint, and grab their spears. Since instead of UNITING and bringing together the wonderful celebrations of many cultures, people want to waste time forming facespace pages about keeping "Christ" in Christmas. How about we call it Merry lookdownyournoseandkeepwalmartintheblack-mas?

Do you people even remember why you celebrate this day? Do you know the real history of this day? Do you realize that this time of year is supposed to embody the essence of Christ...servitude, tolerance, giving freely...excuse me toddler interruption....Diaper checked, juice filled, snack set, Curious George on.... And we are back...Maybe you need to take a step back, put down the credit card, take a deep breath, turn to the person next to you, and say "Happy holidays, may you and yours be filled with love and joy this year." It would blow that person away. Hell what you feel afterwords would blow you away.

OK I got to plug this guy before I go on. Liquiology is the cat who threw this lil ditty together.

This guy is rocking over at Deviantart. So please go check him or her out!! DO IT!!! NOW!!!!

I wanted to share with you my current reigning desktop. Now I change my desktop more than I change my underware so believe me when I tell you that to be up for more than 3 days is amazing. Well this bad boy has. I have done no research into the image or its creators. I say my hat off to the guys that did this.

I like this image for two maybe three reasons.

It inpires me. It really, does there is so much art involved in making this great piece, and the power it invokes is amazing. The classic clash with the classic heros and villians, drawn with a modern style. There is so much depth in the whole image, yet you find yourself seamlessly moving from one character and then back to the awesomeness of the whole scene.

Secondly these are our gods. Norse gods, Greek, Roman, Chinese, the list goes on and on. Gods of war, mischief, messengers of speed, almighty sons. Always locked in the constant dramatic struggle for power, for freedom, the people, for the good of mankind. These are indeed those gods.

So yeah this piece just reeks of holy awesomeness at its very core. I imagine that on the many long nights of trying to carve out my place in the world this epic image of modern day gods preparing to do battle will be stared at for a long freaking time for inspiration.

Just thought I'd share.

I am gonna have shoulder surgery on my left shoulder, yes I am left handed, in two weeks. I think I am getting ready for two to four weeks of inactivity. Today my time was split between working on laying some colors on a sweet Supergirl pic drawn by Randy Green, and starting work on a 6 inch Orc warrior bust made from Super Sculpy.

While I love the productivity being forced out of me, I am not looking forward to this surgery. Nor am I looking forward to the weeks of not being able to do anything. The only bonus is that I will be in-between classes, so at least school won't suffer from this.

Oh well.

Supergirl should be posted Thursday, and hopefully the orc will be done early next week.

I woke up the other day with no desire to draw or color. I wanted to do something artsy, I just had no idea what. Then while I was in the shower I realized I wanted to do something with my hands. So I went to Micheals and bought the stuff needed for sculpting. Mind you I have never sculpted before.So for the last few days I have been playing with clay. I havent actually finished anything yet, because apperently to do a good job it takes time. Plus lots of redos while learning. So I have to sculptures in the works, one is almost ready for the baking process. I will put some pics up of it soon for you few people who follow my weak attempts at art.
Tomorrow though, will be a coloring day. So check back tomorrow night for some funky fresh colors.

As a young lad i always had a thing for drawing, whether it was with crayons, mud, pencils or pens. Then as I got older I got lost in the world of comic books, so my love for drawing and comics naturally came together. Over the years I would like to say I got decent at it, so I decided that i wanted to become a comic book artist. Now here is the problem with that, i have drawn two sequential pages in my life. I have always been good at pin up art.
So blah blah life goes on. My art and I separate for a few years, and we do our own thing. Now I am all growed up and suddenly have this urge to hook back up with my art. Thing is i find that the stuff i used to draw doesn't fit in my life anymore, so i decide to try my hand coloring. Now , in my opinion, after 10 colors i dint think i am half bad. I feel a sort of knack for this coloring on the compy thing. Problem is now that i feel like i am getting stuck in doing art for the masses and not for myself. This is no good, being worried about if this person or that person digs it. Screw that, i want to make art.
I have been perusing Deviant Art, a place where artists of all walks hang, from pencillers to sculptors and i am finding myself drawn to digital painting. Now I had a very short stint with some oils back in the day thanks to my grandma, and i had a blast with it. Sorry i am losing my gusto here. Anywho long story short, I find that it is time to create art I love, in a style that fits me. So take a hike comic art, cause it is time for daddy to paint, digitally ( no mess), orcs, and sword swingers, and chicks with big "ahem" guns. I will do this in my style using methods that work for me. not some guy on some art board who thinks, that just because he did a cover for some underground comic, that he is gods gift to artists and his word should be heard as gospel.
So will I suck for awhile, sure. Will I have fun, hells to the yeah. Cause isn't that what art is supposed to be about. Doing something you love, and having fun while doing it?

So yesterday was one of those days where I just was not feeling the creative juices. Today however is another story. After me and the boy got all our chores done and enjoyed a nice bowl of salsa mac and cheese, i sat down at the compy. I did a little doodling with a personal fun project I have going. nd then I got down to business. I fired up photoshop, prepped Rantz's leia pic, popped the dew, and hit play on the hair band playlist. So far so good. This piece is alot of me trying to find my method, and style. So we'll see how it turns out. Hopefully i can finish it either tonight or manana.

Well after the death of the old 8x6 Genius tablet. I almost cried. But as fortune would have it, I was able to go to Best Buy and pick me up a little Wacom Bamboo tablet. While the actual seface is much smaller, it is way more responsive and feels much better. I love it. Also picked up a couple of zombie movies and the Witchblade anime.

So my handy dandy trusty graphics tablet bit the dust today. Sad, so very sad. Whats worse is trying to color with a mouse after being so used to the ease of a tablet. So the more I play with my tablet and photoshop, the more I realize that there is more to this than I originally thought. This, at least right now, is a slow process. Mainly in knowing what tools to use and how to use them, along with finding my touch with the tablet. But as the old saying goes nothing beats practice, practice, and more practice.

All my life I wanted to create or Draw comic books. I used to draw all the time as a child and teenager. Mainly as a defense mechanism for the shite life we had growing up. Then As I reached manhood and real life took over, drawing took a back seat. Now 1 wife, 1 great job, and 2 super duper kids later I am finding that that childhood dream remains, but my artistic abilities have metamorphosed. I have found that with the creation of computers and wacom tablets i have a blast going all 5 year old and coloring. Here for your viewing pleasure is my first official attempt at before mentioned coloring.

Who Were you?

So this evening I found out from my moms side of the family that my dads father has passed away. I didnt hear this from my dad, well because he said it didnt seem important enough to tell me. Now understand that this is unfortunately true. My fathers side of my family has never been known for being very close, and well as far as my dad and his fathers relationship goes, lets just say it was nonexistant at best. My grandfathers father was abusive to his son and his son apperantly passed that along to his son. He was a very mean and abusive man. Apperently though, at least according to his obit, just to his sons.

At least my dad and I seem to have broken this vicious cycle, even if it took 30 years. Hopefully with my children my wife and I will be able to break this cycle of not being close to family. I mean it is pretty sad when a boys grandfather passes and the boy cannot recall one single memory of him, not one.

So grandpa who exactly were you, because I refuse to believe your were the flowery man in the obit. And ho wexectly am I supposed to feel now that your gone?

Lemmings to the slaughter

Two things bring about this post. The book I have been reading, World War Z, and the concert I went to tonight.

If the proverbial shit ever hits the fan and we, Americans, are every attacked; whether it be by aliens, robots, zombies, or a super flu, we are screwed. Well the majority of us are. Let me explain, leaving the concert tonight was like watching a mass exodus. There was no rhyme or reason to it, just thousands of self centered lemmings flooding the exits on foot or in vehicles. Everyone oblivious to everyone elses existence. There was no order, there was no thought given to others. It was simply its time to go and nothing is going to get in my way.

Case in point, one scrawny little bimbo was walking against the flow of traffic with her face buried in her cell phone texting away like there was no tomorrow. She was almost trampled by the big scary man. A corvette, escalade and a very large dodge pickup thought they were the only beings in existance in the parking lot. Forcefully manuevering their way to the exit. They paid no attention to the pedestrians or the other motorists who had the right of way.

The only group of poeple who had half a brain were the once trying to merge with the lemmings and saw me walking past. " Wait let the big scary man and his cute woman go then follow them out" that is a direct quote mind you.

The point I am getting at is that when the shit does hit the fan. It will not be the enemy that annihilates us, it will be our own self centered only person in existence attitude that will destroy us. Every one in a mad rush for safety without considering those who they could help or save. People will be trampled by the lemmings while the small and weak are left behind. Apperently the events of the last 8 years have taught us nothing.

Wake up America and get your head out of your lemming asses. Your not the only person here!!

I am satisfied and OK with this lil' ditty. Could it be better? Yup. But with all the distractions in my little world, namely mr. stinky pants, and a limited time slot for actual drawing. This is the best i got for you little crickets right now.

I really like the face and i think the tongue works but thats about it. Ultimately though this drawing is a step in the right direction. and that makes it a big frakkin victory

Its what separates children from adults.

my son wants to run through mud puddles. Now I still do this from time to time, but when he does it there is no thought given to the after effects. Wet socks, dirty shoes, and filthy soaking wet feet. More often then not those are the thoughts that go through my mind when we think about running through the mud.

Consequence

He wants to take out all his toy and throw them all over the place. no thought given to the fact that when its all said and done we have to pick them all up and put them away.

Its pouring down rain. He doesnt care he wants to go outside and play. I am worried about him getting soaking wet, muddy, dirty and bringing it all in the house.

When do we start thinking to much? When do we stop thinking innocently and freely and start worrying about the consequences? Or am I the only one?

a day of firsts

So today we had a few firsts for our family and more importantly for Logan, aka. Mr. Stinky-pants.
At about 5pm he got bitten or stung by something that totally tore hime up. Tiffany called me at the station and said his face was swelling up and he had hives all over his body, but that he was acting and breathing fine. Keep an eye on him i told here. About an hour later she called me back and said that the swelling was getting worse. After talking to my LT. it was decided that Logan should be taken to the fire station right down the street.

First number 1. A call come over dispatch for an pediatric patient with an allergic reaction. Then my shift commander called me and told me they were giving Logan meds and transporting him. My heart stopped. There is nothing worse for me then hearing this call and being stuck at the station unable to do anything....sheer helplessness. Fortunately i got relief soon and was able to meet them at the hospital.

First number 2. Logans first IV. which apparently did not go too well. He had to be held down and an arm board was strapped to his arm.

First Number 3. Logans first Ambulance ride.

First number 4. Our first ER visit with one of the kids. Logan is much like his daddy as he doesnt like being in a hospital at all, and does not do well waiting locked up in a hospital room. We were a permanent fixture in the halls.

Needless to say a rough day for us all. Many many thanks to the guys at Four for the great job they did with Logan.

The Week In Review

Went back to work this week, and quite frankly just in time, Not that two weeks off isnt nice. It's just that sometimes it is less stressful dealing with other peoples emergency then dealing with a toddler, a 4 month old princess and their handler. Dont get me wrong I love my family with all of my being but as I sit here listening to Princess Rufflebutt scream as she fights off the sleep monsters at 11 pm I find myself praying for the tones to a 2 alarm fire to drop so I can rush out and jump into the engine. On the other hand sometimes it is easier to deal with the zoo that is my home instead of some hysterical person who caught their dinner on fire and felt it necessary to call out the fire brigade to put it out. How stupid do you have to feel when 12 fully geared firefighters rush up your yard with hoses and axes for a burnt porkchop?

Now for the wasters of my time and brain cells.
Movie- I am by no means a big Star Trek fan. I dug The Next Generation, mostly because of counselor Troi, but I was never into the old school series. With that said I went to see the new movie with my dad and his buddy who are old school trekkies. Got to tell you little crickets that was a hell of a movie. It was probably one of the best movies I have seen in awhile, it was intense, well written, funny, and visually stunning. Sorry if I cant write a 2 page essay on the awesomeness of this movie. Plain and simple it was good. According to the old trekkies there was only 2 things they screwed up on. 1 being that Shatner wasnt in it and 2 I aint telling you. On the other side of the coin, I snuck in to see a lil bit of Wolverine, now granted I only watched about 5 minutes of it but what I did see wasnt all that impressive. Sorry guys, it pains me to say it but the movie did not grab me and make me want to stay in the shadows of the theater watching one of my favorite comic heroes of all time. I will give you my full thoughts on Wolvie when it comes out on dvd.

So lots of posts today. Lots going on. Last night was spectificent, my sister in law brought me a cookie made with pot butter. So i ate me half of that sucka and went to the wifeys favorite local pizza joint for her birthday dinner with the family. I got to tell you that was some kind of madness. There is nothing like laughing your ass of with the 2 other peole who are in on the joke while everyone else goes WTF Mate. Got home and after everyone else fell asleep I ate the other half of that sucka, and preceeded to get creative. More plotting of my story, and the face of my anti-hero has been defined.

By the way I am by no means a master of photoshop, and this is just the basic concept on color. I have a look in my head and it will take awhile to find the colors and shadows that portray the look of the story i want. This morning I also managed to get some of the first page or two scripted. Uber excitement over all of the creative juices that have been floating around in my head lately.

Any who back to the cookies. I dont have the opportunity to get baked very often, and i got to tell you when i do i want to enjoy it. and this was very enjoyable, it came on nice and slow and when it hit it hit hard. The bonus is there wasnt any of the paranioa or fuzzy feeling that comes along with smoking the cheba. It was a good clean high.

First off HAPPY BIRTHDAY WIFEY!!!

Second it is good to see that Rescue Me is back and still as great as always. gotta love seeing Micheal J. Fox playing a crippled xtreme sports athlete.

Got some sweet new figures this week. Thanks to the sellers for the super fast shipping. Got me a killer Mugen from Samuai Champloo, and Wonder Woman. I have a little bit of an issue with WW's hair, but other than that shes cool.

Now for the recent time wasters...
Reads-
Batman year one. Great story, pacing, dialogue and i gotta tell you, and this is coming from a guy who is a visual being, the art really worked for me. It really fits in well with the story.

Batman- year 100. I was a little skeptical of this one at first. I gotta say though it was another well written and well drawn book. The art took a little getting used to, but it really worked well. Both of these books were read in one sitting.

Movies- Transporter 3. Not as bad as I expected. Great pace, the story was solid, and the chick was hot. Oh the car chase scenes were well done also. Not much needs to be said. If it aint broke dont fix it...B+

TV. Rescue me is back. already talked about that. I have been watching some cartoons with me 3 month old princess. Yes she really watches and apperently digs them. We have been watching Iron Man the Armored Adventures, Justice League Unlimited, and The Batman. These are really enjoyable toons. If you wish there were some good toons on that as a manchild you could get stupid with, check 'em out.

Games- Free Realms. I know, I know, its for the younger crowd. Gotta tell ya its fun. there isnt a plot or a story per se. You create your toon and take part in the world. You can take on different careers like a chef, adventurer, ninja, pet trainer, wizard, miner and more. Switch between jobs, or go race carts, or just do quests. This is a cool browser based MMO that is laidback and chill. Free to play or 5 bones for membership.

On the creative front- my little story/ graphic novel idea is morphing and growing. I have managed to get a basic synapsis and character sketches done. This is no small feat when you are either surrounded by 2 lil chitlens or at a fire station sorrounded by a group of over grown chitlens, and you are ADD and get sidetracked easily by books movies and video games. Any way the fact that the story is still festering and growing is a good sign.

Last Week

Ahhh... last week doesnt exist. all that exists is the next 2 weeks of vacation. After the last week at work with business picking up and all the drama that is being fed by the crystal palace, this little vacation is so desperately needed.
On the home front all is good. Princess has gas, stinky busted his lip chasing a wild turkey and the wife bought daddy a dirty little toy. I am so blessed that regardless of what garbage goes on in the world around me I always have the peace and serenity of home. Even when home isnt so peaceful and serene.
Speaking of the crap going on with the world. What the hell is up with this swine flu? Are you kidding me. Stop with the germaphobe scare tactics. First West Nile Virus, then Avian Flu, now...swine flu. Come on, i am just flabbergasted at how easily we as Americans are freaked out. First of all isnt Mexico like a 3rd world nation, do they have healthcare that comes any where near ours. No offense Mexico. And with 6 billion people on the planet I would hardly call 100 people dieing from the flu a pandemic. Wifeys mom pulled this whole "you need to keep the kids locked up in the house." bullshit.
Uhm yeah right. No what i need to do is beat you over the head with your 200 pound arm and put you out of my misery. Wow that was just mean. Seriously though, locking my son in the house is a horrible idea. In three days it would be like a nuclear warzone in here.
I remember a time when kids were thrown in the back of the pick up truck or the station wagon and told to hold on. How about when we used to drop food...dude the 30 second rule is now the 2 second rule, wash it in boiling water and then maybe you can eat it. What about falling and scraping your knee...can you say rubbing owowowlcohol. Now people stub their toe and call 911 and want a morphine drip and an lights and sirens run to the hospital. People it is not the world that is killing us, it is our own ridiculus fear of everything.

Anyway enough of my unintelligent soap box. Watched the new Bond movie this weekend. Not much to say other than it gets a straight A+. Great guy movie all the way. intense action, hot chicks, and Bond. What more do you need. Visually and auditorially stunning.

And for you children of the 80's...GI Joe Resolute. Watch it...enjoy it...weep with the joy knowing that finally GI Joe has been done the way it should be done. Super awesome. No stupid lasers, although there are some tribute moments to the old laser fights. People die, cities are wiped off the face of the earth, and Cobra Commander isnt a whiny little bitch. Awesome

For your auditory pleasure check out Steffen Shackinger. This guy is a technical guitar virtuoso. Shades of Steve Vai with soul. He has a couple of songs with a devil goes down to Georgia duel with this sick little violinist chick. This guy rocks.

Besides the dram that comes with life in a firestation, and the severe allergic reaction to tilapia (that sucked cause the fish tacos were killer...no pun intended) I had a decent day creatively.

I am finding that the more I let go of any preconceived notions about how the creative process should work the more I enjoy the way I am doing things. It also seems that while there is no rhyme or reason to my methods, the fragments that have been written or sketched are slowly coming together to form a cohesive idea.

Being able to draw a superhero or a hot chick definitely helps in the process of comic art, but understanding the medium, finding a way that works for you, and putting it all together to tell a story or share an idea that pulls the audience in is a whole other story, and this is where real practice, discipline, and perseverance will pay off.

So us aspiring comic gods must keep plugging away.

Not much going on around here. The stinky one is a pain in the ass and a whole lot of fun at the same time. The squishy one isnt so squishy, she is my little punk princess, and the wife is still my goddess.
Been working on some character and story ideas for the never gonna be finished graphic novel. It would help if I wasnt getting sidetracked by so many other things. Like Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge, and Scott McClouds comic knowledge series.

Alright great week here. Been a busy week at work. running calls and saving lives.

Movie of the week- The Spirit. Now the only downside to this is that I watched it for the first time at the station. Its hard to really appreciate sounds and visuals on our old ass station TV. From what Isaw though, the visuals are impressive as hell. The story is pretty cool. Campy as hell, and just a fun ride. Plus any movie that has Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johotty in it is got to be good. And you can never go wrong with Samuel Jackson playing a crazed lunatic. I give this movie an A.

Music- Steampunk band Abney Park. They have a really groovy sound, and some fun lyrics. I really dont know how to describe them. Just check them out and see for yourself. I think you'll either love them or hate them, me I'm loving them.

Reading- Trying really hard to read Isaac Asimovs Foundation. Now I know he his an amazing award winning sci-fi writer but I just cannot seem to get into this mans books. I did finish reading Orsen Scott Cards Enders Game. Now that was a great book. The twist at the end was solid and the whole story was more about the struggle with human psche with a bit of sci-fi thrown in. Cant wait to read more of this guys work.
Comic wise it is all about Ex-Machina. Great super hero -politico story about the first super hero turned politician. Art is fairly basic but it really fits with the story, which is a big deal to me. The art doesnt have to be mind blowing if it supplements the strory being told.

Went and played golf for the first time in a few years. Played a local par 3 course twice to get a full 18 holes in. Shot a 106. which is attrocius, but i did better the second go round by 6 strokes. Managed to fall out of a moving golf cart, and also managed to tip said golf cart on its side. so all in all I had a blast. I cant wait to go out again.

New toys and too much work

Normally I'm stationed at a slow engine station, but last shift I had the joy of going home to my first station which just happens to be the busiest ambulance station in the county. Talk about whupped, I spent half a day there running my ass off, and when i got back to my nice slow station I ran my ass off some more. I forgot how tiring being a busy firefighter can be.

As for the toys. My monitor died the other night, so this morning I went to my hated electronics store, Best Buy, because they had the best deal on a monitor. I picked me up a 20 inch widescreen Acer x203h. talk about sweet. Gears of War, Bioshock, and Mirrors Edge just got a bit more intense.

And finally, speaking of Mirrors Edge, my new game is very cool so far. I just beat the first mission, and I got to tell you for a guy who doesnt play platformers or adventure style games, this game is a blast. Visuals are just damn sexy and the gameplay is innovative and fresh. So far this bad mofo is an A+.

Week in Review

Books of the week- read a few of small graphic novels. one is forgettable, the other is Locke and Key- Welcome to Lovecraft. Written by Joe hill, drawn by Gabriel Rodriquez, colored by Jay Fotos, and published by IDW. This was a really cool read. Great dialogue, and the relationship with the characters was believable. Its a bit of a funky horror story and the art was solid.

Also read the first Powers story arc Who killed Retro Girl. not a huge fan of the art style in this one but it worked for the story. Now I am a huge Brian Micheal Bendis fan, and for the most part the story itself and the pacing was well done. With that said, for me there was a little too much dialogue and not enough action, plus the ending was just a bit of a fizzle fest. Still a decent read.

Movies- Rewatched a few of my favorites this past Sunday. The Boondock Saints, and Scarface. This are just 2 of my all time favorite movies ever. Also watched a low budget Australian horror flick called Undead. Gotta tell you it was a weird movie. The Quick highlights are as follows, zombies, aliens, and creepy redneck abductee with John Woo moves. It was a fun little flick that will not make into my collection but I am glad I watched it.

I did some decent sketching and drew a decent supergirl pic. Now if only I had a scanner so I could post my art. Other than that the highlight of my week was getting my rock climbing shoes and getting out yesterday for the first time in way too long to do some climbing, and man am I feeling it today.

If your looking for some decent cheap climbing shoes try out the Montrail Zealots. They come with montrails signature Gryptonite soles, and 2 velcro straps. They handle the Georgie granite like a champ. They have a very snug fit, and really did the job well. The only issues I have is one, due to my need for something cheap and my dislike of REI, I ordered them online through Mountaingear.com. I ordered a size larger than my street shoe size, but they are way too tight in the toes. This is due in part to my wide ass duck feet and not getting them sized in a store. For the price though I cant complain.

Living in Georgia is wonderful. Fairly mild seasons, great culture, great climbing, and good food. Unfortunately for some of us transplants there are two times of the year that are not so wonderful. Spring and Fall, the times of the year when mother nature declares all out war on our sinuses. Everything is coated in a fine yellow dust. Pollen spores float around in the air patiently awaiting a hapless victim whose nasal passages have yet to be assaulted. There are days when one may be seen passing out because the only defense against mother natures attacks is to pinch your nostrils closed and hold your breath.

These attacks are not quick hit and run missions, oh no this is biological warfare at its best. Once mother natures soldiers have found their way into your system they bunker down and lay siege to your sinuses and respiratory system.

Some days are better than others, but there are those days, like today, that you have every intention to get stuff done only to find your self laid out on the couch doing nothing but whimpering. Today was one of those days, i had planned on doing some sketching while the kids were down for a nap and while the wife and boy were out shopping. Yeah, didn't happen although i did manage to spend some time on the 'net just checking out different artists, and looking for good sources of inspiration.
So the day wasn't a complete waste.

Not too much going on this week. Work was a little busier than usual, but that is ok in my book. Nothing like getting to do the business inspection on the local comic shop. Of course there was the issue with a car wreck where every patient was on their cell phone while we are trying to help them. I'm sorry but when you wreck your car because you cant drive in the rain and then the fire dept. shows up, hang up your damn cell and let us do our job helping you.

Movie wise I finally got around to watching Twilight. Its funny cause one of my friends thought I would love this movie because you know I'm all into the geeky superhero stuff. Yeah, sorry folks that was the lamest excuse for a vampire movie I have ever seen. Lame.

On the music side of it all I have been looking around for some good fire up the creative brain synapses music. I have been falling asleep to the soundtrack for 300. fairly decent and pretty intense.

Not much video game playing going on, I have been spending alot of time getting back into the creative side of me. Drawing, or dusting the cobwebs off of my drawing abilities and letting some story ideas fester and grow.

Looking forward to next week as I finally got off my lazy ass and ordered some montrail rock climbing shoes. cant wait to get out on some rock and tear my body up. Climbing is like my creative side, something I used to be obsessed with but let fall by the wayside due to other aspects of life.

Anywho thats my week.

I have used his site in the past for photoshop creativeness and tutorials. Punisher Warzone

OK so I'm a little slow when it comes to movies too, but only because I am not a big fan of paying 8 dollars to sit in a large room with cell phone using, jibber jabbering idiots who think it is suitable to bring their infants and toddlers to see movies that have blue shlongs or brain matter all over the screen. Plus the price for the crap they pass off as food is just ludicrous. So I wait until movies come to DVD so I can enjoy them from the comfort of my own couch eating the num num healthy snacks my lovely wifey buys.

Punisher Warzone...Holy shitballs Batboy. This is one hell of a graphic movie. Dismemberment, head splatter, chargrilled flesh, this is my kind of guy movie. It is a tasty visual treat that sounds like Armageddon in your living room. Just don't expect to get laid if you choose this movie for date night.

So it gets an A for guy movie goodness.
An A for the bloody visuals and ear drum shattering gun battles.
And I'm gonna go ahead and give it a B for the story, mainly because the death of Castles family is true to the comics and this is the way the Punisher should be done. Alas though its a guy movie and we all know guy movies will never have award winning scripts so I cant give it an A.

OK I am a huge fan of anything zombie. Today while wasting some time stumbling while the kids were napping i found this fantastic site... Zombie Shooters. A site filled with nifty little flash games all geared towards the extermination of, you guessed it, zombies. talk about a quick shot of stress relief. So if you love the zombies give it a go, you wont be dissapointed.

Just made this blog site and I am hitting the ground running. Just trying to unload some of the crap thats been floating around in my head.

Growing up i remember having a few dreams. Join the Army, did it and hated it. No disrespect to our troops, simply the military wasnt for me. Become a firefighter, I am one and I love it. Create a comic book. no where close to accomplishing this. the story ideas are still there but the drawing just doesnt seem to be. Now i was heavy into drawing until about 3 years ago. Maybe it was EMT school, getting married or all the other of lifes responsibilties, anyway for whatever reason i just stopped drawing.

Now here we are with life settling down, I've settled into my career, and into being a dad and husband. Its the being a dad part that brings me back to this childhood dream. I sit and color in the spidey coloring book while Stinky scribbles all over my precious coloring job, and i see the sheer joy in his face from just letting loose with a crayon. While i watch him I realize that one of the big things I want my kids to learn is to chase your dreams, no matter what the obstacles are.

How do I teach my kids to do this if the longest running dream I have ever had has never even been attempted? How can I show my kids how to overcome the battles and obstacles that come with dreamchasing when their daddy runs from his dream, because its too hard and takes to long?
What kind of father does that make me?

So I now find myself relearning to draw and jotting down character and story ideas. I 've given up on the idea of working for a company, because I love the job I have, but I would love to publish a graphic novel, even if it takes years, just to show my kids that dreams can be achieved.

Book- Without Fail by Lee Child... This was my first Lee Child book, i decided to pick it up after seeing it on the Rude Cactus blog. The hero is a no nonsense ex-soldier, and the story is fast paced and doesnt waste too much time describing mundane details. Nothing is more annoying than a writer who slows down a story by spending 3 pages to describe a house. I'm not the smartest tool in the shed but i know what an office building should look like. Anywho I digress. For me it was a good read if you like the sulky ex soldier nomadic hero type mixed into a story of assasinations and mystery then pick this sucka up.

Movie- Big Stan Directed by and Starring Rob Schneider. Rob plays a timeshare realtor who has 6 months before he goes to prison for fraud. In an attempt to became rape proof he trains with the Master, played by David Caradine. This is a small indie comedy that isnt a complete snort milk out of your nose for 2 hours kind of movie, but it has its laugh out loud moments mixed with few oh my god eww scenes. "If I'm gonna be raped I want the first time to be by somebody I love." a good 2 hour waste of time

Game- Mass Effect. Now i tend to be a little behind in my game playing, meaning i am usually playing last years games this year for the simple fact that i have a wife, 2 kids and a great job. With that said if you havent played Mass effect and you are into RPGs, sci fi, and shoot em ups go get this game. It looks great, sounds great and has a great story. The combat sytem and skills are great and your pc partners arent completely useless.
For a quick gaming waste of time check out Quake Live- its Quake 3 arena played online through your web browser. Best part about it is the practice match that gauges your skill level and then helps you find matches that fit your skill level.

Its been raining in the Atl for a few days now, and it has caused some serious cabin fever for the little man. So being the awesome dad I am I got home from the station this morning and got Stinkys, if you smelled the shit that comes out of his ass you'd call him the same thing, rain gear on and we headed out into the rain soaked yard.
Suffice it to say the boy loved it. He splashed and ran through every puddle he could find. When the thunder rolled he looked everywhere to find it. Meanwhile I am huddling under my hoody trying with no luck to keep my Chucks dry. Why wasn't I splashing in the mud with Stinky, why didn't I show him the fine art of creating the big splash? When did I grow up and lose that childlike adventurism and simplicity?
Why is it that when we grow up we lose what we had as children, and at what point is it that we lose it? During high school in the battle to fit in? Or is it later, when the stress of bills and a job take over? I don't know for sure but this morning I realized I missed my inner child.
